Growth within My Passion

Growth within my passion began the moment I discovered how deeply I love serving others. Deep from within me I enjoy giving my time, talent and energy while showing up for people in meaningful ways. Yet, during those early years of my life I realized that the most valuable qualities I possessed were already inside me. Compassion, generosity, and a heart willing to give. Those qualities became the foundation of my passion and continue to guide my growth today.

While growing up, I did not always have nice things or experience many privileges in my lifetime. Yet even then, I recognized something special developing within me a heart for giving, caring, and supporting others. It was not something I was taught; it simply lived inside of me. My inner desire to help has continued to grow and has become a meaningful part of who I am today. I never learned how to cook the right way, and I did not always experience the closeness of a strong family foundation.

Challenges Growth within My Passion

There were things I had to learn on my own, and moments that required me to grow up faster than I expected. Yet through it all, I rose above my circumstances. Those experiences did not harden my heart instead, they helped shape the compassion within me and strengthened my desire to give to others in ways I once needed myself. While working I experience more of giving back to others. Especially when we have gatherings at work, and since I don’t cook I always make sure that I google an easy to do recipe or get one from my cousin.

CORN PONE

First I gather my aluminum baking pan with a cover. For my ingredients I gathered sour cream, butter, Jeffy mix, sugar, cream style corn, and whole kernel corn.

  • Sour Cream 1/2 of 8oz package
  • Stick Butter melted
  • Jeffy Mix whole box
  • Sugar teaspoon
  • Cream Style Corn regular size can
  • Whole Kernel Corn regular size can

After I mix all of my ingredients and place it inside the pan baking at 350 degrees for approximately 25 minutes. Let it cool off and ready to eat. Just something simple and easy. Now, I am learning how to bake with LOVE and then I share it with my family and friends. They seem to enjoy the Zucchini Bread and everyone has a preference some with pecans and others with raisins. While enjoying their favorite beverage hot or cold. My generosity in sharing with others when I collect food and give to others that are unable to get around and can use it. There is a need for more GIVING BACK TO OTHERS.

Challenges While Getting Used To The Working World

After graduating from senior high school, I did attend a junior college but only for a year. While being in high school I remember that my Civics teacher always told us that in life we make our decisions which will benefit our lives. Everyone wouldn’t attend college, and there are always different routes that can be taken.

My oldest sister took me under her wing by teaching me typing skills, even though she herself was not very confident in typing at first. She went on to attend college and became a wonderful elementary school teacher. She loved teaching her students with patience and love. She believed in giving respect to others and trying to understand each of her students individually.

There were times when I thought I was not going to find a job. Going from interview to interview, taking test after test, and sitting before a round table of people asking questions was very intimidating. My nerves would kick in, but I always remembered what my sister instilled in me to handle myself with confidence and to always be honest. As you look over employment and jobs sections you can clearly see what I am speaking about.

While searching for employment, I did not realize that I was also searching for purpose. The skills I learned, the confidence I gained, and the values my sister instilled in me began guiding me toward something deeper than just earning a paycheck. They were guiding me toward my passion. Growth, Challenges and Generosity.

Walking Into My Purpose

The transition from school into the working world was not easy for me. There were moments of doubt, moments of fear, and moments when I quietly wondered if I would ever find my place. Sitting in interviews, facing panel questions, and waiting for phone calls that sometimes never came tested my confidence. But even in those uncertain seasons, something was being built inside of me.

I did not fully understand it at the time, but God was preparing me.

The typing skills my sister once encouraged me to learn — skills that seemed so small then — became the very doorway to my first opportunities. I began working as a clerk typist. What seemed like simple office work taught me discipline, attention to detail, and responsibility. I learned that even the smallest tasks matter when they are done with excellence.

Later, I became a Police Records Specialist. That role carried even greater responsibility. Handling important documents, maintaining confidentiality, and serving both officers and the community required integrity and focus. It was more than paperwork — it was service. I realized that behind every record was a person, a family, a situation that mattered. My work had purpose.

Yet my heart was being drawn beyond the office walls. As I grew professionally, I also began to grow spiritually. The same values my sister instilled in me — patience, respect, honesty, and compassion — began guiding me toward deeper service. I became involved in community food share distributions, helping families who were struggling. Handing someone a bag of groceries may seem simple, but to the person receiving it, it can mean relief, hope, and dignity. Looking into the eyes of those we served touched my heart in a way that no job title ever could.

When I look back, I see how every step was connected

What began as a search for employment became a journey into purpose. My challenges did not break me — they prepared me. My work was never just about earning a paycheck; it was about learning how to serve with integrity, love, and faith.

  • The interiews that strengthened my courage.
  • The typing lessons that opened professional doors.
  • The records work that taught responsibility.
  • The community outreach that deepened my compassion.

Today, I understand that passion is not always discovered in one big moment. Sometimes it is revealed step by step, through obedience, perseverance, and a willing heart.
